Jaaga, based in Bangalore, India, seeks to nurture innovative endeavors by providing space, core infrastructure, and a diverse social environment. We explore new ways of using pallet rack shelving to create a social and collaborative place for a wide range of forward thinking people.
Founded by Freeman Murray and Archana Prasad in Bangalore, India in August 2009, the project looks at developing an environment that connects people to their habitat organically and dynamically. It constantly looks for ways to engage and exist without weighing heavily on the earth’s limited natural resources.
We offer co-working for creative minds, mentorship to small tech start-ups + Fellowships and Expert Collaborator opportunities to those interested in the intersection of art, activism and technology.
Jaaga is focussed on creating a culture that uses digital technology in new ways - from cross-continental real-time poetry readings to installations seeking to manifest the coming Internet consciousness.
The Jaaga Media Center engages with people through new media technologies. We have dorm facilities and multi-level spaces for screenings, workshops, lectures and performances. At our Electronics Lab people work on next generation lighting systems. Our space and events bring in a diverse group of people both locally and from around the world.
What makes Jaaga particularly unique is that it is an ever evolving nomadic, artistic, social, environmental & technical experiment. The Jaaga building can be thought of as a community art installation. A space constantly in flux, reacting to the creative inputs, demands & desires of her inhabitants & her surroundings.
We view Jaaga as a public, communal masterpiece in the making. Through collaborations with visiting artists and technologists, who interact with its modular structure, Jaaga is a living, evolving building that pushes towards being sentient and reactive.
There are several ways to participate in Jaaga's journey forward, so take your pick and jump right in!!
